A Word from Alan

"The Warmth of Wood" project is a collaborative effort between two artists and two friends, Jonathan Willis and myself, Alan Cheek. Jonathan is a talented waterfowl decoy maker, and together we have combined our artistic talents and interest in the folk art of decoy carving to produce this unique piece of artwork.

Warmth of Wood

The "Warmth of Wood" shows an arranged still-life setting, the process of Jonathan's decoy making, featuring the bird in various stages of development…from rough cut blocks of pine and juniper, to smooth sanded bird shapes, to the complete painted decoy. I've taken the actual wooden parts and pieces as well as paint brushes and a reference sketch, and arranged them in an artistic presentation to reveal my part in this one of a kind artwork.

The "Warmth of Wood" is offered in a strict one time limited edition of only 30 sets. Each set includes the 22" x 34.5" canvas print by myself and Jonathan's hand-painted shorebird reproduction. Each piece of each set is signed and numbered by both artists. Each limited edition is documented with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by both artists. The "Warmth of Wood" collaboration exhibits our mutual interest in and desire to advertise and preserve the art of waterfowl decoys, both past and present. Please link here to request the brochure.
